Alumni Talk on “PLC in Industrial Automation: From Classroom Learning to Industry Applications”

S J M Institute of Technology (SJMIT), Chitradurga, a constituent unit of Sri Jagadguru Murugharajendra University (SJMU), organized an Alumni Talk on “PLC in Industrial Automation: From Classroom Learning to Industry Applications” on 9 October 2026 at 10:00 AM at the EEE Seminar Hall. The programme was organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC).

The session featured Mr. Venkatesh D, PLC Engineer at SKF India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, as the Chief Guest and resource person. He shared valuable insights into Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), their role in industrial automation, and their practical applications in modern industries.

The talk aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industrial practices by familiarizing students with automation technologies, industry requirements, and emerging developments in the field. The session also provided students with an opportunity to gain practical knowledge, understand real-world industrial challenges, and explore career opportunities in industrial automation.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Sanjay Kumar K and Prof. Noor Fathima, Programme Coordinators, with the support and guidance of Prof. Anusha V, IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Sathish J, Dean Academics, and Dr. Kumaraswamy B. G, HOD and Principal.

The Alumni Talk served as a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, technical learning, and industry–academia interaction, encouraging students to strengthen their technical competencies and prepare for successful careers in industrial automation.
