SJM Institute of Technology (SJMIT), Chitradurga, through the Departments of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), and Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), in association with NIELIT and IQAC SJMIT, inaugurated the 90-Hour Online Training Program on “Development of EdTech Platform in Semiconductor Space to Democratize Chip Design and Development Ecosystem for Masses” on 29 July 2026 at Sir M. V. Hall.
The training programme is a prestigious initiative supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, with the objective of equipping engineering students with the knowledge and skills required in the rapidly growing semiconductor and VLSI industry. The programme aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing comprehensive training in semiconductor fundamentals, chip design methodologies, emerging technologies, and practical applications.
The inaugural session was delivered by Mr. S. Viswanath Naik, Academic Head, NIELIT, EC, Government of India, who shared valuable insights into India’s semiconductor mission, the importance of semiconductor education, chip design and development, and the opportunities available for aspiring engineers in this rapidly expanding sector.
The programme was organized under the guidance of the Heads of the participating departments: Dr. Siddesh K. B., HoD, Department of ECE; Dr. Krishnareddy K. R., HoD, Department of CSE; and Dr. Kumaraswamy B. G., HoD, Department of EEE. The event was coordinated by Dr. Rajesh A. M., IQAC Coordinator, with the support of the Faculty Coordinators – Prof. Sudha T., Prof. Nandini G. R., and Prof. Anusha B. The programme was inaugurated under the leadership of Dr. Bharath P. B., Principal, SJMIT, whose continuous encouragement promotes industry-oriented learning initiatives for students.
