The Bio-Diesel unit was set up on 16-08-2012 in collaboration with Karnataka State Bio-fuel Development Board (KSBFDB). Its important objective is to create awareness among the rural mass like school children, Elected Members of Panchayath and farmers regarding importance of Bio-fuels and to promote plantation activities in waste lands of villages. The objectives associated with this unit are, to facilitate research and entrepreneurship among students, contributing to the social and economic development of rural and urban areas, to encourage and support research and development activities for Bio-fuel development, achieving energy self reliance and fuel security by progressive use of renewable energy through harnessing potential in Bio-fuels without effecting the food security. The unit is producing Bio-diesel from non edible oil seeds like pongamea, Neem, Jathropa, Garsinea Combozia and other seeds and the same is used as fuel for vehicles of our institute.
